Legislative Building Tour

Yesterday we went to Regina on our field trip. Our first stop was the Legislative Building. We thought that the building was really cool. We learned that some of the marble used in the building is now extinct! Some of the pillars in the building weighed as much as 6.3 tons which is the same as an adult African Elephant. Before our tour we posed for some pictures pretending to be the Speaker. Our tour guided showed us the library. There are so many books and magazines there that they can't keep them all in one building. There were newspapers from all the small towns in Saskatchewan. There were more than half a million books! We saw old electric clocks that cost three thousand dollars when they were bought. There used to be 6 but one was lost and one was stolen. We saw some old paintings. One on the north wall was a painting of Saskatchewan's north and the one on the south wall was for Saskatchewan's south! One was faded because people used to smoke there. The only way it could be cleaned off was with human spit! They couldn't use soap and water because it was smearing the picture. We saw the assembly room where they make the laws. The mace was there too! We got to go to a boardroom where the government has meetings. That is where our MLA met us! We even had our picture taken with him on the grand staircase. The carpet on the staircase was green because the government was not in session. When it is in session it is red! We had a great time visiting this building! You should check it out!

  2. Wow. I remember the legislative building tour likeit was yesterday. And now it's already one year after. I moved from Melville to Ontario so I wish the grade 4's from Mrs.Ball's class (who are now grade 5's) to have another exciting field trip. I kinda wish I could be there with you guys. I will never forget grade 4. My friends, the school and Mrs.Ball.

  3. Hi Sandy!

I didn't know that you had moved to Ontario. We will miss you in Melville. We enjoyed getting to know you and hope all is going well with you at your new school. I am enjoying being at home with my new baby girl, Addison. Take care and keep in touch.
